1st day Board your flight to Budapest. Get some sleep on the plane, it will be your last chance to rest before the fun begins! 2nd day Your tour starts in Budapest, Hungary where Jonathon Harker began his legendary journey to meet Dracula. You begin with a tour of this beautiful city accompanied by an English speaking guide. Later some free time to rest or stroll thru the walking streets near your hotel. After a long flight may we suggest a relaxing massage at one of Budapest's world famous spas. (optional tour) BB Accommodations in the Taverna Hotel 3rd day Full buffet breakfast included at your hotel. A free day to shop, go to a museum or cruise down the legendary Danube River (optional tour). In the evening you may go to one of Budapest's many well known restaurants or join us for a raucous, fun-filled Hungarian barbeque including wine tasting, folkloric show and dancing (optional tour). BB Accommodations in the Taverna Hotel 4tH day Full buffet breakfast included at your hotel. Just time to pack the goodies purchased in Budapest before boarding the train to Romania (exactly as Jonathon Harker did). Box lunch provided on the train. 5tH day After breakfast you will be given a city tour of Cluj, the capital of Transylvania for 300 years. You will see the well preserved old town center, visit St Michael Cathedral built in the 14th century and see the house where Mathias Corvine was born. History considers him as the greatest Hungarian king, a relative of Vlad Tepes and the one who captured Vlad and kept him hostage for 12 years. Totally awesome lunch in Bistrita Village at the Golden Crown where Jonathon Harker spent the night on his way to meet Dracula. As if the surprise of the day wasn't enough, tonight you will sleep in the Dracula Castle Hotel where something special awaits. If you’re first, don’t tell the secret of the dungeon. After dinner look out for vampires in the shadows around the roaring bonfire. B L D Accommodations in the Dracula Castle Hotel 6tH day Today we visit the incredibly beautiful frescoed monasteries of Bucovina Voronet and Humor. Better save some room in your suitcase for a colorful handwoven rug because you won't be able to say no when the ladies of this town show you their magnificent work. En route to Piatra Neamt we stop in Tarpesti to visit the local art museum (wood carvings and masks) and enjoy a traditional dance program performed for us by the village children. Overnight in Piatra Neamt. B L D Accommodations in the Central Hotel in Piatra Neamt 7tH day Drive to Sighisoara through the spectacular Bicaz Gorge and Red Lake mountain resort. Box lunch on the bus as you wind thru some of the most beautiful scenery in all of Romania - especially in the fall when the leaves are dramatically colored. Stop in Chendu Village for handicrafts and souvenir shopping. Upon arrival in Sighisoara, visit the Clock Tower and the old town. Before dinner we attend a witch trial show presented by the local theater group. Dinner follows at the Dracula House where Vlad was born in 1431. B L D Accommodations in the Sighisoara Hotel in Sighisoara 8tH day Depart for Dracula Castle, in Bran Village. After the tour we have lunch in Poiana Brasov and the rest of the day is free for strolling around the square of this quaint town before donning your costume for tonight's special dinner and Costume Ball at the Citadel (former Transylvanian fortress). B D Accommodations and dinner at the Lebada Hotel. 10tH day After breakfast enjoy an extensive tour of Bucharest including the House of Parliament, largest building in the world after the Pentagon. After lunch at the Casino Palace you are free to spend the afternoon trying your luck at the gaming tables (dress code enforced), go walking or shopping, or join the group on an included tour of the Village Museum. B L D Gala farewell dinner at Dracula Club Restaurant. Lebada Hotel. 11tH day After breakfast all survivors transfer to the airport for flight home. |
